Traveling Salesman Arrested on Theft Charge in Centralia

A traveling salesman from Texas was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing items from a Centralia home.

Joshua D. Medaris, 24, of Austin, Texas, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft.

At 7:01 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 1100 block of Emerson Lane in Centralia after receiving a report of a theft.

Medaris was reportedly inside a home in the area selling magazine subscriptions to the alleged victim when he asked to use the bathroom. After he left, the resident realized items were missing from the bathroom. The items were not identified.

Medaris is also suspected in another theft reported on Saturday.

At 10:04 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report from a resident of the 200 block of Elizabeth B. Browning Drive in Centralia that a door-to-door magazine salesman took a tablet from the home.

The victim in that case also reported that Medaris asked to use the bathroom. When he left, she noticed that her tablet was missing.
