Posted

As summer vacation draws to a close next week, the Centralia School District is asking that drivers exercise caution and observe school zones to avoid accidents and fines.

The first day of classes in the Centralia School District is Tuesday, Sept. 6.

At Centralia High School, a modified schedule will take place on Tuesday.

All freshmen will begin school at 7:55 a.m. at the high school gym with Link Crew activities. Morning buses will pick up freshmen at the regular pick-up time, stated a press release from the district.

High school freshmen parents, and any parents of new CHS students, are invited to attend parent orientation in the high school classitorium at 8 a.m.

Sophomores through seniors are welcome on campus beginning at 11 a.m. for lunch. There will be no late transportation for these grade levels on the first day of school.

The district stated students who do not have transportation can ride the bus at the regular time and wait in the commons area until school starts at 11 a.m. Tenth through 12th graders are strongly encouraged to arrive on campus at 11 a.m., stated the release.

All freshmen and their parents will join the upper grades for lunch at 11:40 a.m.

Students will attend a mini day, attending all six periods beginning at 12:10 p.m.
