Pogorelc on list

Santa Clara University student Caroline Pogorelc of Centralia has been named to the fall dean's list at SCU.

To qualify for the dean's list at SCU, students must be in the top 10 percent of their class that year.

Army promotes Reisinger

Maj. Aaron Reisinger, a 1990 Adna High School graduate and a 1994 U.S. Military Academy graduate, was recently promoted to the rank of major by the U.S. Army.

Reisinger has been selected to serve in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense Internship Program at the Pentagon.

He is attending Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., where he plans to earn a master's degree in strategic policy management.

Following degree completion, he will serve for two years within the Joint Staff or the Office of the Secretary of Defense as an action officer supporting the development and management of Department of Defense policy.

He and his wife, Stacey, live in Springfield, Va.

Reisinger is the son of Bill and Mary Reisinger of Adna.

Quilters sew up honor

Dian Keepers of Centralia, in conjunction with Jeanne Fischer of Ellensburg, received an honorable mention award at the Pacific International Quilt Festival, held Oct. 14 through 17 in Santa Clara, Calif.

Their quilt, Celtic Sampler, was judged in the traditional quilt category of the "Grin the Thread It" competition. More than 900 quilts and garments were entered in the festival, with 320 quilts hung and judged for the competition.



Their quilt has also been selected to be included in Karen McTavish's new book 'McTavishing." The book has not yet been published with principle photography in the final stages of completion.

Sailor Rogers ends training

Navy Seaman Apprentice Kevin T. Rogers, son of Lonnie Haerling of Rochester and Thomas Rogers of Centralia, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Rogers is a 2004 graduate of Rochester High School.

Centralia soldier completes course

Army Pvt. Kiri E. Shay has graduated from the automated logistical specialist advanced individual training course at U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

The course is designed to train soldiers to establish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, materiel control, accounting and support reports, automated and manual accounting records; perform stock record-warehouse functions pertaining to receipt, storage, distribution and issue, and maintain equipment records and parts; review and verify bills of lading, contracts, and purchase orders; repair and construct shipping crates for equipment and supplies; and perform prescribed loads and shop stock lists in manual and automated supply applications.

Shay's mother is Diana Shay of Chehalis. The private is a 2003 graduate of Centralia High School.

Wheeldon bound for Fort Leonard Wood

Joshua J. Wheeldon has joined the U.S. Army under the delayed entry program, which allows enlistees to delay entering active duty for up to one year.

Wheeldon, a 2002 graduate of Kelso High School, will report to Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., Dec. 29.

He is the son of Tamara Wheeldon of Kelso, and John Anderson of Glenoma.
