Power Restored Throughout Lewis County After ‘Incredibly Widespread Event’

After several 24-hour workdays, Lewis County PUD announced Wednesday morning that power has been restored to all areas experiencing an outage after Sunday’s snow.

On Tuesday, PUD Communications Liaison Corenne Moses called the outages, which affected residents from Centralia to Pe Ell, west to Vader and east to Mineral and Ashford, an “incredibly widespread event.”

Moses said it is still unclear exactly how many customers were affected by the outages. Crews were working to restore power from about noon on Sunday through Tuesday night.

“Thank you for understanding our need to prioritize and organize restorations,” Moses wrote in an email to customers Tuesday night. “While we are diligent in our attempt to manage vegetation’s interference to our infrastructure, trees grow.”

Moses said Monday heavy snowfall was causing repeat outages in areas already fixed by PUD crews working through the night.

Snow caused the majority of the outages, either directly, or by causing tree limbs to fall on lines, Moses said.

Crews also repaired damage from several car crashes into power poles.

“We still have mop-up going on,” Moses said Wednesday morning.
