The city of Centralia will begin work at the intersection of Borst Avenue and Johnson Road next week as sidewalk access ramps are replaced and preparation begins for an asphalt patching project where an emergency sewer project took place this spring.

R.C. Walsh and Co. will demolish the existing sidewalk access ramps on the northwest, southwest and southeast corners, replacing them with new ramps that meet current federal standards, according to a press release from the city.

The curb along the north side of Borst Avenue between Johnson Road and Allen Street removed during the emergency sewer project will also be replaced.

Paving is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.

“Work will not impact vehicular traffic at this time, but the public is urged to use caution through the work area,” according to the release.
