Twin-city rivals Centralia and W.F. West ended with a 3-3 match tie, then also tied on games with 55 a piece to end in a stalemate Wednesday in Centralia.
“Today’s match showed how high school tennis is truly a team sport,” Centralia coach Deb Keahey said. “Every game counted toward the total and we ended with a tie. I don’t think a tie happens very often in tennis. I guess it’s only fitting that the twin cities would end in a tie.”
Singles
“Liza and Claire’s match lasted about two and a half hours,” Keahey said. “It was the last varsity match on the court with lots of long rallies and exciting points. Freshmen Emily Wilkerson had a challenging match. Emily’s still learning and improving each match.”
Doubles
“Doubles players Maddie and Maya remain undefeated so far this season,” Keahey said. “Evie and Serina are really starting to come together as a doubles team.”
Centralia (1-3-1) travels to Aberdeen on Friday. W.F. West (0-1-2) hosts Tumwater on Friday.
