2A Softball: Tigers Toast River Ridge 14-2

LACEY — Eight of nine Centralia batters notched hits in the fifth inning of an Evergreen 2A Conference softball match with River Ridge, helping the Tigers score 9 runs and cruise to a 14-2 victory here Thursday night.

Molly Hull led the Tigers with three hits, and Lauren Liseth scored three runs as the leadoff hitter. Erika Brower, Jenny Milton and Haley Riner had two hits apiece, and Tarah Land chipped in an RBI double in the big fifth inning.

“It was a good effort tonight,” Tiger coach Ken Olson said. “It was just a good game to let the rest of the league know we’re still there.”

The Tigers and Hawks fought rainy conditions, but it didn’t make that much of an impact, Olson said.

“It was a little sloppy, but there weren’t a lot of walks,” he said.

Olson commended the pitching of Brower.

“She’s just been solid,” he said. “She pitches with a lot of confidence and believes in herself a lot.

“She pitches a lot of ground balls for us and that’s good with Lauren (Liseth) and Parker (Pocklington) in the middle infield.”

Centralia (3-1, 2-0 league) has Onalaska scheduled tonight, if weather permits. If not, they will play Mount Si Saturday at the Husky Festival on the reigning National Champion Washington Huskies’ field at 11 a.m.

“It’s a real treat for those kids to get into those (UW) dugouts,” Olson said. “And to also play on a good, good surface.”
