As Primary Nears, Officials Say Drop Boxes Better Option Than Mail

Posted

Voters are encouraged to use ballot drop boxes for the Aug. 3 primary election, ballots for which have already been sent out.

Ten drop boxes across Lewis County are open for this election, and voters should drop their ballot packets in by 8 p.m. election day.

If voters are mailing in their ballots, however, the U.S. Postal Service advises them to do so at least seven days before election day so the ballot will be postmarked in time.

The Lewis County Auditor’s Office advises residents to check the last pickup time posted on the blue USPS mailbox or at the post office to ensure their ballots will be picked up in time.

Ballots should have arrived by Friday, so if voters didn’t receive theirs or need a replacement, they can go to votewa.gov, call 360-740-1164 or 360-740-1278, or go in-person to 351 NW North St., Chehalis.
