On a gorgeous, sunny day at Newaukum Valley Golf Course, the W.F. West girls golf team recorded one of its best team scores in recent memory under the Stableford format, defeating Black Hills, 118-65 Wednesday afternoon.

“We played some beautiful golf to go along with the beautiful weather,” Bearcats coach Matt Klovdahl said.

The Bearcats were led by Natalie Eklund’s match medalist effort, taking home 32 points under the Stableford format and shooting four over par on the nine-hole course.

Abby Alexander (24), Grace Oien (23), Kendall Rasmussen (21), and Joy Stafford (18) rounded out the rest of the Bearcats’ varsity lineup on a strong day.

“I was really proud of how the girls played,” Klovdahl said. “They have been working really hard on their golf games and it showed tonight.”

Black Hills’ varsity lineup wasn’t too shabby themselves, led by Maya Hamilton’s 19 points under the Stableford format. Grace Hurley (15), Emily Victory (13), Melody Hackworth (10), and Ellie Johnson (8) rounded out the Wolves lineup.

The Bearcats return to competition after spring break against Rochester at Riverside Golf Course April 12.
