Bestselling children’s book author John Schu visits Edison Elementary School in Centralia

Edison Elementary School in Centralia welcomed author John Schu for presentations to all grade levels throughout the day on Thursday, Oct. 10.

The children’s librarian for Bookelicious LLC and a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University, Schu is the author of several books, including New York Times bestseller “Louder Than Hunger;” “This is School,” illustrated by Veronica Miller Jamison; “This is Hunger,” illustrated by Lauren Castillo; “The Gift of Story: Exploring the Affective Side of the Reading Life;” and the upcoming children’s book “Ruthie Rose’s Big Idea,” which will be illustrated by Holly Hatam and published in March 2025.



“John Schu has made a career out of advocating for the people and things he cares about most: kids, books and the people that connect them,” Edison Elementary School stated in a news release. “He was named a Library Journal Mover and Shaker for his dynamic interactions with students and his passionate adoption of new technologies as a means of connecting authors, illustrators, books and readers.”
