As the state Legislature negotiates its capital budget — funding aimed at statewide construction, investment and repairs — Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Centralia, has identified a list of local funding priorities.

Under the first-term representative’s proposal, approximately $138 million be carved out of the House’s $5.68 billion capital budget for projects in the 20th district, which includes most of Lewis County.

Abbarno is the assistant ranking Republican on the House Capital Budget Committee.

“While the final version may look different from the original proposal, Abbarno is hopeful many of the local projects will remain in the bill,” a press release reads.

“I am proud to serve on the Capital Budget Committee and work to include these projects in the House version of the budget,” he said in a statement. “I will continue working to keep them in the budget throughout the process.”
