The Centralia Downtown Association’s (CDA) final installment in its summer Music in the Park series will feature country and rock artist Joel Gibson Jr. performing in Centralia’s George Washington Park on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m.

“We're excited to welcome our community once again for good tunes and a great time,” said CDA Executive Director MacKenzie McGee. “Joel puts on a great show and we're ready to send our 2024 season out in style!”

Music in the Park is put on by the CDA annually on the second Saturday of every month from June to September, always from 6 to 8 p.m. The nonprofit organization features a different local band every month. Previous events in the 2024 season have included performances from the Bruce Maier Band, Harmony Ridge and Grooveyard.

“With his wide-ranging, original song catalog, extensive touring experience and diverse stage shows — from solo acoustic performances to fronting a rowdy, good-time band — Joel Gibson Jr. fully embraces his country and rock roots and truly expresses his persona as the Eclectic Outlaw,” the CDA stated in a news release.

Gibson, a native of the state of Washington, has forged a lasting bond with loyal fans throughout the PNW, according to the CDA. And, as his string of albums, online appearances and live shows within an ever-expanding touring radius continues to grow, that group is increasing as well.

“I’m excited to be coming back to Centralia for Music in the Park! We’ve been playing at Bub’s Pub for years, and the crowd is always incredible,” Gibson said. “Getting an opportunity to play some country and rock in downtown Centralia for the whole community is something I’m really looking forward to!”

The CDA will provide yard games and family-friendly activities to enjoy during the free concert. This month’s food vendors include Kat’s Kitchen, Kreative Kettlecorn and Kona Ice, which will be serving up snacks and treats for the duration of the event.

Let's Play Something will also be on site with toys and games for folks to test out and purchase. Gibson Jr. will also have a merchandise table at the event. His custom label bourbon, Eclectic Outlaw Bourbon, releases on Oct. 19.

“This is such a fun event series for us to put together,” McGee said. “What could be better than gathering our community for music and fun in the last of the summer sun?”

The CDA is a nonprofit with a mission to create a vibrant downtown experience for locals and visitors alike by promoting historic preservation, economic growth and creative place making in downtown Centralia.
