Centralia Motorcyclist Killed in Crash Near Rochester Identified by State Patrol

A 62-year-old Centralia man died in a crash on U.S. Highway 12 near Rochester Sunday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol. 

The crash, which occurred at about 5 p.m., happened when a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Randi R. Peck, 65, of Chehalis, was traveling northbound on Forstrom Road and attempted to cross U.S. Highway 12. The Corvette was struck by a Kawasaki motorcycle driven by the 62-year-old Centralia man identified Monday as Craig J. Nelson.

Nelson died at the scene. Peck was not injured. 



The cause of the crash is under investigation. According to the state patrol, it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. 

The roadway was blocked for three hours and 20 minutes as emergency responders cleared the scene. 

Both vehicles were totaled.
