The Chehalis River Basin Land Trust and the Lewis County Stream Team will have a work party at the Chehalis River Discovery Trail in Centralia from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 27.

Members of the public are invited to join volunteers from the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust  and the Lewis County Stream Team for the work party.

Volunteers will gather at the trailhead near the river at 9 a.m. before proceeding to the work area near the north end of the trail. All volunteers will be asked to sign a liability waiver.

Most of the work will be knocking down reed canary grass to encourage growth of 250 young trees and shrubs that were planted last fall. If time allows, volunteers could remove some other invasive plants.

Participants are asked to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes, gloves, long pants and sun protection. Some gloves will be available at the site. Snacks and drinking water will be provided, but attendees are asked to bring their own bottles.

The Chehalis River Discovery Trail is located at1545 Goodrich Road in Centralia.

Attendees are asked to follow the signs and continue through the gate to the parking area near the old red barn.
