Fire crews extinguish 100-square-foot brush fire in Chehalis on Wednesday

The cause of a 100-square-foot brush fire that broke out near Southwest Chehalis Avenue and Third Street in Chehalis on Wednesday is still undetermined, according to the Chehalis Fire Department.

Crews were dispatched to the brush fire shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and were conducting mop-up operations by 6:15 p.m., according to the Chehalis Fire Department.

“Initial access to the fire was challenging, but once located, firefighters encountered a 100x100 foot area of active burning. Personnel swiftly brought the fire under control and extinguished it,” the Chehalis Fire Department posted to Facebook shortly after 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.



At the time, crews were conducting mop-up operations with assistance from the Department of Natural Resources.

No injuries were reported.

Crews returned to the site of the fire to extinguish hot spots on Thursday.
