Heart of Order Powers Rainier to Win

Raymond-South Bend stuck around the whole way, but the Rainier softball team pulled out rally after rally to stay ahead, then came back late the one time it needed to in a 9-8 non-league win Thursday.

Trailing 8-6 going into the bottom of the sixth, Alyssa Lofgren got things started with a one-out single, and Keira  Anderson made the most of it with a two-run bomb to tie things up.

From there, the Ravens fell apart a bit in the circle, walking the bases loaded before walking the go-ahead run in.

Lofgren, Anderson, and Brooklynn Swenson combined to go 7 for 10 at the heart of the Rainier order, complete with two doubles (Swenson and Anderson), a triple (Lofgren), and a homer (Anderson), seven runs scored, and six driven in.

Ryleigh Cruse had some bumps along the way to her complete-game win, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 12 hits and five walks, but got the job done in the top of the seventh with a 1-2-3 inning.

Rainier goes into spring break undefeated, and will come back April 10 with a C2BL doubleheader at Onalaska.
