Letter to the Editor: Congresswoman Should Deliver Answers, Not ‘Weasel Words’

Posted

America, including the 3rd Congressional District, is being led closer and closer toward a place where the core values that founded America are non-existent. One of these core values that is being eroded by the forces of evil is our role as parents to raise our children in the way we deem appropriate.

It is “we the parents” who are the sole guardians of our children’s upbringing, teaching them the values we hold dear and that have served as a moral compass for America since its inception. We in the 3rd District certainly hold these truths to be self-evident.

The values of good versus evil, truth versus lie, hard work versus shiftlessness, faith in a higher power, love versus hate, and gender identity are at risk in today’s America.

In November, voters elected Marie Gluesenkamp Perez as our representative for the 3rd District  in a close election. Had we been fully aware of her stand on gender issues, we might have voted differently. Humans have genes on the 23 chromosome that determine whether or not one is born a boy or girl either an (X or Y). That’s it, either or, not both.

During Oregon Public Broadcasting’s debate at Lower Columbia College Nov. 3, 2022, far-left congressional candidate Marie Gluesenkamp Perez could not give a definition of gender and said the answer was “nuanced.”

Really? That sounds a lot like a recent Supreme Court justice said on “what the definition of woman” during her Senate confirmation hearings. Nuanced? Really? If you have two X chromosomes you are a girl. If you have an X and Y chromosome, you are a boy.

Period.

One of the moderators asked the Democratic candidate for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, “Do you support biological males competing in biological female sports?”

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez struggled to respond to the audience in the traditionally conservative district. “Um, I, I think that is, the, it’s complicated. It depends when do they transition? What are their hormone levels? I mean, when you, when you really look at, um, athletes have all different natural hormone levels. So, there’s the, it is a nuanced question.”

“It depends on the scenario.”

Seriously? How about a straight answer not flim-flam about transitioning, hormones and hormone levels. Just state your position, either for males competing with females in women’s sports or not.

My guess is that the vast majority of 3rd District folks like straight talk and not weasel words and dodging a direct question. We quite possibly made a mistake in November 2022. Let’s not make another one in November 2024.
