Posted

Lewis County saw an increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations this week, reporting 35 new positives and seven new hospitalizations. That’s compared to 21 cases and five hospitalizations the week prior. No deaths were reported this week.

Even with the increases, Lewis County’s case rate per 100,000 is still decreasing, since the metric is based on a two-week average.

According to the state’s data dashboard, the county has a case rate of 93.5, down significantly from last week’s 128.3, but still above the state’s average, which stands at 64.5.

The county’s hospitalization rate of 6.2 per 100,000 also exceeds the state’s current rate of 2.7.

Lewis County’s vaccination rate continues to stagnate. The percentage of residents who have initiated vaccination and those who are fully vaccinated both rose less than half a percent in the past week, according to county data.
