Local, DNR Firefighters Contain Brush Fire in Rochester Area

Firefighters quickly contained a brush fire along Case Road SW near the Scatter Creek area Monday afternoon.  

Here’s the news release from West Thurston Fire Authority: 

Firefighters from multiple fire agencies including DNR quickly brought a 5-acre fire under control on Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 4:19 p.m. along Case Road SW in Rochester near the Scatter Creek Game Range and quickly began to threaten a nearby home.



Ground crews along with DNR fire helicopter No. 345 quickly brought the fire under control. Nearly 25 firefighters from DNR, West Thurston, Riverside RFA, South Thurston, McLane/Black Lake and East Olympia were on the fire scene.

No structures were damaged and there were no injuries reported.

Crews will remain on scene into the evening hours.
