A new outdoor space in downtown Centralia will open to the public Saturday.  The Pine Street Plaza, a project spearheaded by the Centralia Downtown Association, is located in the east 100 block of Pine Street between Tower and Railway avenues.

According to the association, “it is designed to provide an outdoor space for locals and visitors to gather with friends, to enjoy a cup of coffee or a takeout meal, to rest a bit while shopping downtown, to enjoy games and occasionally live entertainment.”

“This Saturday, we invite the public to pick up their favorite takeout at a downtown restaurant and join us under the sunny umbrellas at the Pine Street Plaza to hear live music by Don't Push,” the association wrote in a news release.

"Community support for this project has been wonderful,” said Teri Zambon, executive director of the CDA. “To date, we have raised over $23,000 in donations and in-kind support (and) our committee and volunteers have contributed hundreds of hours to bring the Pine Street Plaza to Centralia.”
