Port of Centralia Opens Bidding Process for Second Phase of Centralia Station Project

Posted

While Midway Underground construction crews continue work on phase one of the Centralia Station project — the Yew Street extension —  the Port of Centralia has announced it is now accepting bids for the project’s second phase.

Phase two will involve widening the Mellen Street-Interstate 5 off-ramp along with other associated road work and construction. The estimated cost will be between $3.5 million and $4 million.

Bids can be turned in at the Port of Centralia, located at 3508 Galvin Road. The port is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The deadline to turn in bids is 2 p.m. on April 18.

Centralia Station is a proposed shopping center and mixed-use development with WinCo Foods planned as the anchor tenant. Once completed, it will be located just off the Mellen Street exit of I-5.

WinCo is a warehouse-style supermarket chain that offers bulk food items and is open 24 hours a day.

The Port of Centralia is still working with WinCo to finalize site plans for the shopping center. During a meeting at the beginning of March, Port Executive Director Kyle Heaton said he expected plans to be delivered, “within the next month or so.”
