Riverhawks’ Comeback Falls Short at Orcas Island

Posted

Making the long trek north, the Toledo boys basketball team fell to 1B Orcas Island on the road Friday night, 72-67, after a late comeback attempt.

The Riverhawks held a one-point lead at the halftime break, but a devastating 21-6 third quarter put them in a 14-point hole heading into the final eight minutes.

Though Toledo made it close at the end, scoring 23 points, with seven coming from freshman Trevin Gale, it came up just short to fall to 1-2 on the season.

Carson Gould led the Riverhawks with a team-high 20 points, and Conner Olmstead and Cooper Fallon each finished with 10 points to round out double figure scorers. Though Christian Malunat had just three points, he hauled in nine boards to lead the Riverhawk effort on the glass.

Toledo will look to leave Friday night’s result behind it as it heads to San Juan Island to take on Friday Harbor Saturday.
