Sirens: Homeless man uses power outlet without permission; mailboxes knocked over; animals left in parked van; meth found in juvenile's room

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• Just after 6:55 a.m. on July 17, a business in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue reported a disorderly male who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and was yelling at an employee.  Officers located the man, 44, of Olympia, after he left the business’s property.  He reportedly began threatening officers who contacted him. He was arrested on an outstanding Bremerton warrant and was transported to Bremerton.

• A homeless Portland man was given a verbal warning for camping in the 400 block of South Tower Avenue just after 11:15 a.m. on July 17. An officer contacted the Hope Recovery Navigator Program to assist the man.

• A homeless Centralia man was trespassed from private property in the 1400 block of Johnson Road just after 10 a.m. on July 18.

• A homeless Rochester man was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of Belmont Avenue at approximately 10:30 a.m. on July 18 at an employee’s request.

 

Disorderly conduct

• Two disorderly subjects were reported at a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:05 p.m. on July 18. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

 

Assault

• A physical dispute between a mother and a daughter that was reported in the 500 block of South Oak Street at 12:25 p.m. on July 17 is under investigation.

• A 54-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue just after 6:30 a.m. on July 18 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 1500 block of Lewis Street just before 5:40 p.m. on July 18 is under investigation. A juvenile suspect has been identified.

 

Drug violations

• Suspected meth was found at a juvenile’s home in the 1300 block of Reynolds Avenue and was turned in to the police department after 1:20 p.m. on July 17.

• A 31-year-old Centralia man was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for violating a no-contact order in the 300 block of Lowe Street at 12:20 a.m. on July 19. He was also booked for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a dangerous weapon. A 28-year-old Centralia woman was also cited for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A firearm and drug paraphernalia were found inside a “suspicious vehicle” in the 1400 block of South Gold Street just after 4:05 a.m. on July 19. The case is under investigation.

 

Unlawful possession of a firearm

• A 52-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just after 1:50 p.m. on July 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

 

Theft

• A 41-year-old Centralia woman was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after she allegedly shoplifted from a store she was trespassed from in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6:40 p.m. on July 17.

• Money was reported stolen from the 100 block of South Street just before 1:30 p.m. on July 18. The case is under investigation.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 11:05 p.m. on July 17 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accident

• Possible injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision in the 1300 block of South Gold Street just before 10:40 a.m. on July 18.

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to an electrical box and a water hose at Washington Park in the 100 block of South Pearl Street was reported at approximately 10 a.m. on July 18. The case is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:25 a.m. on July 17 is under investigation.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 500 block of Northwest Rhode Island Place just after 3:40 p.m. on July 18.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 1:10 p.m. on July 18.

 

Noise complaint



• Just before 1:20 p.m. on July 17, a business in the 700 block of Northwest State Avenue advised that a neighbor was threatening to call the police about the business playing music.

Suspicious circumstances

• A caller reported someone was trying to take her Social Security number at the intersection of Northwest State and Northwest Maryland avenues at 2:25 p.m. on July 17.

• A man was reportedly pushing a 10-year-old child in a shopping cart on the sidewalk in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 3:35 p.m. on July 17.

• A citizen in the 600 block of Northwest State Avenue reported a homeless man was using his power outlet just after 7:35 p.m. on July 18. The citizen said he told the man to leave and said the man told him to “F— off.” He left the property before the citizen called the police.

 

Disputes

• At approximately 4:30 p.m. on July 17, a possible physical dispute between two girls that occurred in the 300 block of Northwest Florida Avenue on July 14 was reported.

• A possible physical dispute between two men was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 6:05 p.m. on July 17.

• A possible dispute was reported in the 500 block of Southwest William Avenue at 6:55 p.m. on July 18.

 

Death

• The death of a hospice patient was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Creekside Lane just after 6:35 a.m. on July 18.

 

Recovered property

• A vehicle reported stolen out of Thurston County was recovered in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 8:25 a.m. on July 18.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly man reportedly yelled at and threatened to beat an employee at a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 9:15 a.m. on July 18.

• A man reportedly screamed at a clerk at a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue “for not providing service” at approximately 9:50 a.m. on July 18.

 

Malicious mischief

• Just after 12:55 a.m. on July 18, a resident in the 800 block of Southwest 19th Street reported someone had knocked over four mailboxes in the area sometime overnight.

 

Assault

• Brenton Neal Klasen, 30, allegedly shoplifted from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and struck an officer in the head at 2:10 p.m. on July 18. An officer tased the man during the arrest. He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail just before 6:30 p.m. on July 18 for third-degree assault of a police officer. He had a preliminary hearing scheduled in Lewis County Superior Court at 4 p.m. on July 19.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man accused of shoplifting flashlights, small hand tools and other items from a store in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:50 p.m. on July 18 was trespassed from the store for life.

 

Theft

• A second-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 3:10 p.m. on July 18 is under investigation.

 

Animal negligence/abuse

• A citizen in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported seeing kennels of animals inside a parked van just before 5:45 p.m. on July 18.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 44 illness-related calls, 18 injury-related calls, 16 fire-related calls, eight non-emergency service calls, seven vehicle accidents, one ambulance request and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 130 inmates, including 118 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 93 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 14 inmates, including six booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections,  one booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by the City of Elma.
