Sirens: Juvenile flees police, crashes; topless woman arrested after melee, says 'she just wanted to fight': 'crack' pipe found after burglary

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A homeless Chehalis man and a homeless Olympia woman were trespassed from a business in the 1000 block of Johnson Road just before 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 4 for camping overnight on the property.

• A homeless Centralia man was trespassed from a business at the intersection of East Summa Street and Kresky Avenue at approximately 9:05 a.m. on Sept. 4.

• An officer responded to a report of a woman sleeping in the hallway of an apartment building in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue just before 9:25 a.m. on Sept. 4. When the officer arrived, he learned the woman had exited the apartment building and urinated inside a nearby business alcove. She was trespassed from both locations.

• A homeless Centralia resident was trespassed from private property in the 1400 block of West Main Street just after 12:50 p.m. on Sept. 4 for disorderly conduct.

• A homeless Centralia resident was trespassed from private property in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue just after 3 p.m. on Sept. 4 for disorderly conduct.

• A homeless Centralia resident was trespassed from private property in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 4 for disorderly conduct.

 

Eluding

• Officers attempted to stop a driver for outstanding warrants at milepost 82 on northbound Interstate 5 just before 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 2. “Officers discontinued their effort to stop the suspect after he began driving recklessly to elude police,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed in the 200 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3 a.m. on Sept. 5. The driver attempted to elude police, but crashed a short time later. Officers contacted the juvenile male driver, who was uninjured, and placed him into custody for attempting to elude. He was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center.

 

Theft

• Mail theft reported in the 100 block of Halliday Road just after 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 4 is under investigation.

• At 7:35 a.m. on Sept. 5, a license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1100 block of Johnson Road sometime overnight.

• A 17-foot Grumman aluminum canoe was reported stolen from a residential property in the 600 block of Lakeshore Drive just before 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 5.

• Officers arrested a 22-year-old Othello man for an outstanding felony warrant in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Sept. 5. During the arrest, officers located a stolen credit card on the man’s person. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail for the outstanding warrant and for second-degree possession of stolen property.

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a vehicle that was reported in the 100 block of East Oakview Avenue just before 3:55 p.m. on Sept. 4 is under investigation.

 

Assault

• Officers contacted a woman who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, walking in the middle of the roadway, topless, in the 2800 block of Borst Avenue just before 3:50 a.m. on Sept. 5. An officer transported the female to Centralia Providence Hospital for an evaluation. While in the hospital lobby, the woman allegedly charged at and attempted to hit a male who was standing nearby. The officer was able to subdue her before she was able to strike the bystander. After being taken to the ground by the officer, the female allegedly attempted to hit and bite the officer. After the officer, with the assistance of hospital staff, restrained her, she allegedly spit on the officer. “When the officer asked the female why, the female stated she just wanted to fight,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

DUI

• A 62-year-old Chehalis man was arrested at the intersection of South Pearl and West Plum streets just before 10:35 p.m. on Sept. 5 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Fraud

• A scam call involving a scammer calling someone and demanding she meet him in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue with $1,000 “to get her daughter” was reported just after 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 4.

• A case of “non-specific fraud” reported in the 200 block of Southwest Lewis Street at 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 5 is under investigation.

 

Harassment

• A disorderly man was cited for threatening to “take a hammer over (a staff member’s) head” at a business in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 4.

 

Drug violation

• Two subjects were arrested for drug violations in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place at approximately 9:05 a.m. on Sept. 4.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly man was reportedly yelling at employees of a business in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue at 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 4.



• A disorderly man was reportedly “waving his arms around” and drinking a bottle of whiskey inside a gazebo in the 200 block of West Main Street just before 3:55 p.m. on Sept. 4.

• A case of disorderly conduct reported at the intersection of Northeast Kresky Avenue and Northeast Hampe Way just after 9:05 a.m. on Sept. 5 is under investigation. 

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Three “very persistent” salespeople were reported in the 600 block of Southeast Prospect Street just after 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 4. One salesman reportedly “appeared angry” when a resident “told him ‘no thank you’ to (roofing) services.” Officers confirmed the salespeople had a business license. The manager said they would speak to the salespeople “about being aggressive.”

 

Criminal trespass

• Two subjects reportedly trespassed on property in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 1:20 p.m. on Sept. 4.

• A homeless man was moved along from the 500 block of Northeast Washington Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 4.

• A man without a shirt who was walking “really slowly and staring at (a) house” in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street just after 8:35 p.m. on Sept. 5 was trespassed from a residential property.

• A man who was reportedly digging through a business’ dumpsters in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:10 p.m. on Sept. 5 was trespassed from the business.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Pacific Avenue and Northwest Park Street just before 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 4.

 

Burglary

• A possible burglary to a vacant residence in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard was reported at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 4. The reporting party advised they found “crack pipes” and an odor of cigarette smoke that weren’t there the day prior.

 

Dog in car

• A dog was reportedly left inside a car parked in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 4. Shortly after calling, the reporting party confirmed the vehicle was running.

 

Assault

• A woman was reportedly “throwing punches” and pushed someone to the ground before taking off her pants in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 4. She was arrested for fourth-degree assault.

 

Theft

• At 12:05 p.m. on Sept. 5, a theft that occurred in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard sometime overnight was reported.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 5. A physical dispute was reported at the same address just after 5:05 p.m. that afternoon.

 

DUI

• A subject was arrested for DUI after crashing inside a car wash in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 5.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 46 illness-related calls, 12 injury-related calls, 13 fire-related calls, three non-emergency service calls, three vehicle accidents, two Lifeline medical alerts, one overdose, one suicide-related call and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 145 inmates, including 132 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 107 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 17 inmates, including nine booked by the Centralia Police Department, four booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court and three booked by the Lummi Nation.
