Sirens: Man arrested for DUI after rollover; downtown Centralia businesses burglarized; man tries to sleep in dumpster

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A 70-year-old Centralia man was arrested for trespassing in the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 4.

 

Theft

• A 19-year-old Rochester woman and a 20-year-old Rochester woman were cited for shoplifting in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 5:05 p.m. on Oct. 4.

• A 49-year-old Rochester man was cited for shoplifting in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 4.

• A 29-year-old man was cited for shoplifting in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 7:50 p.m. on Oct. 4.

• A 39-year-old Centralia man was cited for shoplifting in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue at 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 4.

• An unidentified suspect reportedly stole alcohol from the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at 9:05 p.m. on Oct. 4.

• Motion sensor lights valued at about $100 were reported stolen from a business in the 700 block of South Gold Street just before 12:25 p.m. on Oct. 6. The case is under investigation.

• Just after 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 7, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 500 block of Jefferson Street sometime overnight. The case is under investigation.

 

Shooting complaint

• A citizen in the 400 block of North Gold Street reported hearing two gunshots and seeing two muzzle flashes just before 8:40 a.m. on Oct. 4. “Officers investigated the report and executed a search warrant, but no evidence was located to support (the) original report,” the Centralia Police Department stated in a news release.

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a vehicle reported in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. on Oct. 5 is under investigation.

• A 39-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for damaging a vehicle and resisting arrest in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just after 11:55 a.m. on Oct. 6.

 

Fraud

• Someone reportedly attempted to use a stolen EBT card in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:40 p.m. on Oct. 5. The case is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, multiple-vehicle collision was reported in the 400 block of North Pearl Street just after 3:50 p.m. on Oct. 5.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run by a delivery vehicle in the 700 block of J Street reported at 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 6 is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A 30-year-old Centralia man was arrested for DUI after he was involved in a single-vehicle rollover collision at the intersection of East Fifth and B streets just after 10:55 p.m. on Oct. 5.

• A 30-year-old Centralia man was arrested for DUI in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 2:05 p.m. on Oct. 6.

 

Assault

• A 27-year-old Vancouver man was arrested for assault and making threats to kill in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at 5:10 p.m. on Oct. 5.

• A juvenile was arrested for assaulting a family member and damaging property in the 700 block of West First Street just after 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 6.

• A juvenile was arrested for assaulting two people and damaging property in the 1300 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 2 p.m. on Oct. 6.



 

Burglary

• A burglary to a business in the 1000 block of North Pearl Street was reported just after 11:50 a.m. on Oct. 6. The suspect damaged the business to gain entry and stole approximately $150. The case is under investigation.

• A burglary to a business in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue was reported just after 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 6. The suspect stole between $600 and $700. The case is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 9:25 a.m. on Oct. 4.

• A non-injury two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 5:40 p.m. on Oct. 6.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man who was behind a business in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue “trying to live in (the business’s) dumpster” just after 10:25 a.m. on Oct. 4 was trespassed from the business. He told the reporting party he was “trying to change his clothes to get dry.”

 

Assault

• A man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 100 block of Southwest Second Street just after 1:40 a.m. on Oct. 5.

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 800 block of Northwest Lake Street just after 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 6 is under investigation.

• A juvenile was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street just after 6:20 a.m. on Oct. 7.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 15th Street just after 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 5.

 

Theft

• Just after 12:35 p.m. on Oct. 6, a shoplift that occurred at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on Oct. 4 was reported.

• A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 6.

 

Rape

• A rape reported in the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 is under investigation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 60 illness-related calls, 20 injury-related calls, seven fire-related calls, seven non-emergency service calls, 11 vehicle accidents, one Lifeline medical alert, two overdoses, one medical helicopter request, one department assist request, two 911-hangup calls, one hazardous conditions report, two suicide-related calls and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 168 inmates, including 155 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 122 were reported male and 33 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 16 inmates, including 10 booked by the Centralia Police Department, two booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court and three booked by the Lummi Nation.
