Sirens: Man reportedly seen kicking pregnant woman in stomach; assaults, riot at Green Hill; felony suspect flees from police

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A first-degree theft reported at the intersection of East Sixth Street and North Tower Avenue at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 23 is under investigation.

• A cellphone was reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 23.

 

DUI

• A 31-year-old Chehalis man was arrested in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just before 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 23 for reckless endangerment and being in physical control of a vehicle while under the influence.

 

Eluding

• A man wanted on multiple felony charges reportedly fled from Centralia police in the 200 block of North Pearl Street after officers received a Flock Safety camera system alert that his vehicle was in the area just before 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 23. The suspect fled towards Bucoda. The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office was notified and Centralia officers discontinued their pursuit. The case is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Drug violation

• A W.F. West High School student was cited for possession of a marijuana pen at school in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street just after 12:55 p.m. on Sept. 23.

 

Dispute

• A possible verbal dispute between two homeless people was reported at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Division Street at 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 23.

• A possible domestic dispute was reported in the 400 block of Northwest Park Street at approximately 10:10 p.m. on Sept. 23.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A citizen reported seeing a male subject sitting in a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of Northwest Center Street and Northwest Chehalis Avenue just after 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 23. He reportedly had his hands out of the window and the vehicle’s alarm was going off.

• A homeless woman was reportedly “swearing and hitting things” in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 24. 

• Just after 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 24, a guest at a motel in the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue reported someone has been following him and was now banging on the door to his room. Motel staff reported they hadn’t seen anyone enter the motel.

 

Theft

• Just after 8:25 a.m. on Sept. 24, a client of a business in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reported $340 of cash was stolen the week prior.

 

Criminal trespass

• A subject was reportedly sleeping on a slide in a park in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 12:05 p.m. on Sept. 24.



• A criminal trespass reported in the 200 block of Southwest First Street just before 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 24.

 

Scam

• A man was reportedly selling fake jewelry in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 3:05 p.m. on Sept. 24.

 

Green Hill School

• Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street reported two custodial assaults and a prison riot at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 24.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Sept. 24.

 

DUI

• A subject was arrested for DUI after a vehicle crashed into a barrier in the 800 block of state Route 6 just before 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 25. Minor injuries were reported.

 

Disorderly conduct

• Just after 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 24, a woman was reportedly wheeling a dumpster around at the intersection of Northwest Park Street and Northwest Chehalis Avenue and yelling at subjects who told her to stop. Officers conducted a welfare check on the woman, who moved along without further incident.

 

Assault

• A possible assault involving an unidentified male kicking a pregnant woman’s stomach was reported in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 24. The woman declined medical aid.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 39 illness-related calls, 16 injury-related calls, 11 fire-related calls, four non-emergency service calls, three vehicle accidents, three Lifeline medical alerts, two overdoses, one medical helicopter request and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 166 inmates, including 153 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 121 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 14 inmates, including four booked by the Centralia Police Department, seven booked by the state Department of Corrections and three booked by the Lummi Nation.
