Sirens: Ramen thrown on teen, father says; shirtless man strikes victim with bar; vehicle prowler threatens to fight witness

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Death

• A death reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 23 is under investigation.

Theft

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 23.

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1:45 p.m. on Aug. 23.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 10 a.m. on Aug. 27 is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass

• A criminal trespass was reported in the 200 block of Northwest Center Street just before 11:35 a.m. on Aug. 23.

• A woman who reportedly stole soda out of a cooler inside a hotel in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just after 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 23 was trespassed from the hotel.

• An intoxicated man was cited for trespassing in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:25 a.m. on Aug. 24.

• A man who reportedly set up a tent on a property in the 200 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at 12:55 p.m. on Aug. 24 was trespassed from the property.

• A criminal trespass reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 5:20 a.m. on Aug. 26 is under investigation.

• A subject sleeping on a bench in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue was moved along just after 7:20 a.m. on Aug. 26.

• Three subjects were reportedly digging through a dumpster in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just after 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 26. One of the subjects was reportedly carrying an axe.

• A criminal trespass reported in the 800 block of West Main Street just after 11:20 p.m. on Aug. 26 is under investigation.

 

Disputes

• A possible verbal dispute involving a woman leaving in a vehicle while a man was trying to get into the vehicle was reported in the 10 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 11:40 a.m. on Aug. 23. The two subjects who were reportedly involved in the dispute refused to talk to an officer.

• A “disturbance/dispute” reported at the intersection of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and West Main Street just before 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 26 is under investigation.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Just after 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 23, a business in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard reported a customer had been in the bathroom for over an hour. The customer left while the reporting party was on the phone with the police.

• A man was reportedly “tweaking” in a dumpster in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 1:05 a.m. on Aug. 24.

• A woman reported her ex was following her in a vehicle in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 6:05 p.m. on Aug. 24.

• A citizen reported a “very active drug house” at the intersection of Southwest McFadden Avenue and Southwest Third Street just after 7:55 p.m. on Aug. 24.

• Two subjects were reportedly “messing with the door” of a residence in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue at 9:55 p.m. on Aug. 24.

• A woman was reportedly looking into vehicles and possibly tried to open a trailer door in the 1200 block of Southwest Sylvenus Street just after 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 25.

• A woman was reportedly heard screaming inside a vehicle in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:35 p.m. on Aug. 26.

• At 6:05 p.m. on Aug. 26, a father called to report his 13-year-old daughter had called him and said her mother had thrown ramen soup on her 11-year-old sister in the 800 block of Northwest Lake Street.

• A man reportedly “looked like he was trying to pull wires out of (a) lamp post” at the intersection of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue and Northwest Middle Street just after 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 26.

 

Kidnapping

• Officers took a report of a possible kidnapping in the 300 block of Southwest Eighth Street just after 3:35 p.m. on Aug. 23. No additional information was released by the Chehalis Police Department on Monday.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Southwest William Avenue and Southwest 13th Street just after 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 23.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:25 p.m. on Aug. 23.

• A car drove over the sidewalk and struck a tree in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard at 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 24. As a result of the crash, the tree fell into the roadway, blocking half of a lane. The driver was reportedly “flipping people off” immediately after the crash. Fire personnel removed the tree from the roadway. Possible injuries were reported.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Aug. 24.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Arkansas Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 11:35 a.m. on Aug. 26.

• Possible injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision in the 700 block of Northwest Arkansas Way at 2 p.m. on Aug. 26.

• Just after 12:10 p.m. on Aug. 27, a caller reported a non-injury, two-vehicle collision that took place in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court on Aug. 6. The caller reported the other driver had verbally agreed to pay for damages, but had not done so. The caller was advised to go through small claims court.

 

Hit-and-run

• Just after 3:40 p.m. on Aug. 24, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 1200 block of Lum Road at 11:05 a.m. that morning was reported.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 200 block of Northwest State Avenue at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Aug. 24.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 160 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 27.

 



Scams

• A phone scam involving scammers claiming to be law enforcement informing victims that their identities had been stolen was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Aug. 23.

• A man was reportedly trying to convince an older man parked in a handicap spot to buy gold in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:05 p.m. on Aug. 27. The reporting party said the older man “looks uncomfortable.”

• A man was reportedly asking for money to get home to Canada and “offering necklaces and such” in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 5:55 p.m. on Aug. 27.

 

Recovered vehicles

• A stolen vehicle was recovered in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court just before 10:25 a.m. on Aug. 24. The case is under investigation.

• A stolen trailer was recovered in the 10 block of Southwest Fourth Street just after 10:55 a.m. on Aug. 27.

 

Assault

• A shirtless male reportedly struck someone in the head with a bar in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 1 p.m. on Aug. 26. The victim was driven to the hospital for treatment. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

• A woman reported two people assaulted her in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 8:05 p.m. on Aug. 27.

 

Malicious mischief

• At approximately 4:25 p.m. on Aug. 25, a citizen reported someone cut a garden hose on their property in the 10 block of Southwest Saunders Way sometime overnight.

 

Harassment

• A case of “malicious harassment” reported in the 600 block of West Main Street just after 11 p.m. on Aug. 26 is under investigation.

• A man reportedly threatened his girlfriend in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 27. 

• A homeless woman reportedly threatened a woman and “accused her of stealing her cat” at the intersection of North Market Boulevard and Northwest Boistfort Street just after 8:05 p.m. on Aug. 27.

 

Drug violation

• A subject was cited for a narcotics violation in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:05 a.m. on Aug. 27.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A client at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reportedly pulled multiple fire alarms just before 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 27.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A 35-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 1000 block of F Street just after 8:25 a.m. on Aug. 26 on an outstanding warrant and for taking a family member’s vehicle without their permission.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 65-year-old Centralia woman who reportedly trespassed and urinated on private property in the 300 block of East Main Street just after 1:35 p.m. on Aug. 27 was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree criminal trespass.

 

Assault

• A man reportedly shoved a juvenile to the ground, causing minor injuries, in the 700 block of H Street just after 4:40 p.m. on Aug. 27. The case is under investigation.

 

Disorderly conduct

• At 1:25 a.m. on Aug. 28, officers received a report of a vehicle prowl in progress in the 1000 block of Mellen Street. A male suspect allegedly broke into a vehicle then began kicking garbage cans into the road. When the witness confronted the male, the male threatened to fight the witness.  Officers located the male, 21 of Olympia, who had an outstanding felony warrant out of Thurston County for several felony level crimes. When officers attempted to detain him, he allegedly resisted officers in an attempt to flee. He was arrested and booked into the Thurston County Jail on his outstanding warrant. He was also cited for disorderly conduct.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 45 illness-related calls, 17 injury-related calls, 12 fire-related calls, five non-emergency service calls, five vehicle accidents, one Lifeline medical alert, one medical helicopter request, one overdose, one hazardous conditions report and three other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 157 inmates, including 145 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 112 were reported male and 33 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 14 inmates, including four booked by the Centralia Police Department, five booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement.
