Sirens: Tenant threatens to burn home; man punches neighbor; $8,000 in merchandise stolen from outlet store

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• Vandalism and theft of plants were reported at a garden in Borst Park at 9:20 a.m. on Sept. 6.

 

Harassment

• Just before 10:05 a.m. on Sept. 6, a landlord alleged that a tenant/roommate in the 1000 block of Yakima Street threatened to burn his house down. The case is under investigation.

• Telephonic harassment was reported in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just before 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 7.

 

Assault

• Just after 10:50 a.m. on Sept. 6, officers responded to a dispute at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Warren Street where a male allegedly punched his neighbor when confronted about an issue.  The male who assaulted his neighbor fled the area before officers arrived.

• A 40-year-old Concrete man was arrested in the 300 block of South Pearl Street at 2:35 a.m. on Sept. 7 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• A 14-year-old was arrested for fourth-degree assault in the 1700 block of Maple Valley Drive at 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 8.

• A 14-year-old was arrested for fourth-degree assault in the 200 block of Jackson Street at 3:55 p.m. on Sept. 8.

 

Criminal trespass

• Police were dispatched to a hotel in the 1200 block of Alder Street just before 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 6 for a report of a man who was attempting to access rooms and refused to leave when asked. Officers located the man, 50, of Olympia, who had an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant for his arrest. He was trespassed from the hotel property and issued a court summons for his warrant. He allegedly returned to the hotel about 45 minutes later. He was then arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree criminal trespass and his outstanding warrant.

• A 45-year-old Onalaska woman was arrested for trespassing at a gas station in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 10:25 p.m. on Sept. 7.

 

Theft

• Appliances were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Jackson Street just after 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 6. The case is under investigation.

• Just after 2:55 p.m. on Sept. 6, a white Suzuki DR350 motorcycle was reported stolen from a residential driveway in the 600 block of South Diamond Street sometime within the past week.

• A woman reportedly stole $300 worth of merchandise from an outlet in the 100 block of West Highland Street at 5:05 p.m. on Sept. 6 and fled in a van driven by an unidentified man. The case is under investigation.

• A camera was reported stolen from the 2300 block of Eureka Avenue at 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 7.



• A red Chrysler 300 was reported stolen out of a residential driveway in the 300 block of N Street just after 4:40 p.m. on Sept. 7. A Chehalis Police Department officer later saw the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, but the driver fled.

• Two suspects stole over $8,000 worth of merchandise from an outlet in the 1300 block of Lum Road at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 8.

• A 37-year-old Centralia woman was booked into the Lewis County Jail for criminal impersonation after she allegedly gave false names to police after she was arrested for shoplifting at a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 8.

• A 32-year-old Oakville man was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after he allegedly shoplifted at a grocery store he was trespassed from in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 8.

 

Sexual assault

• A third-degree rape reported in the 100 block of West Maple Street just after 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 6 is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A 25-year-old Rochester man was arrested for DUI after he was involved in a collision at the intersection of Marion Street and Little Hanaford Avenue just before 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 6. He was also arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, for allegedly punching his brother multiple times in the face earlier that day.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on the southbound Interstate 5 Exit 81 on-ramp at 12:25 p.m. on Sept. 7.

• Injuries were reported after a car crashed into a light pole in the 400 block of Harrison Avenue just after 12:55 a.m. on Sept. 9.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 57 illness-related calls, 27 injury-related calls, 19 fire-related calls, seven non-emergency service calls, 11 vehicle accidents, six Lifeline medical alerts, three overdoses, one suicide-related call, one rescue and eight other calls. 

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 162 inmates, including 149 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 120 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 20 inmates, including 12 booked by the Centralia Police Department, four booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
