A 33-year-old Tenino man was injured and flown to a Seattle hospital Friday night after crashing his motorcycle in Thurston County, according to Washington State Patrol.

About 10:30 p.m., the man was headed north on U.S. 101 at Mud Bay Road in west Olympia. In front of him, a 59-year-old Ocean Shores man was driving an SUV.

Troopers say the Tenino man attempted to pass the SUV on the right, but struck the vehicle instead. The motorcyclist wound up in a ditch, while the SUV stopped on the right shoulder of the highway. The Ocean Shores man was not hurt.

The Tenino man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to State Patrol.

The right lane of the highway was blocked for three hours during the investigation.
