Tenino triumphs past W.F. West in non-league thriller

Despite not having three starters in the rotation, the Beavers pulled out a barn-burner over the Bearcats 23-25, 25-10, 24-26, 25-23, 15-13 in Chehalis on Tuesday night.

The only set that wasn’t close was the second where Tenino (2-1). It needed a slight rally to extend the match to a decisive fifth set and then fended off W.F. West in the fifth to notch the road victory. The Beavers two wins have both gone the distance.

“Girls showed a lot of grit tonight,” Tenino head coach Shauna Carpenter said. “Very proud of our younger girls.”

Jaeleen Woodward notched a team-best 23 digs while Katen Burkhardt recorded a double-double of 10 digs and 10 kills and Macy Griffis dished out 15 dimes. Tenino will face Onalaska on Thursday in another non-league match.

W.F. West will face another 1A Evergreen program in Montesano on the road on Thursday.
