Heading northwest for some league action, the Napavine girls soccer team defeated Forks, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon.

The Tigers got out to a quick start, with Hannah Fay scoring a goal in the 13th minute to give them an early lead.

Leading 1-0 at the half, Haley Gallagher sent a good cross through toward the net in the 57th, and a Forks player kicked it in for an own goal to double Napavine’s lead.

In goal, Charley Hollinger made the start and recorded one save. The Tigers credited centerbacks Maya Kunkel and Emma Stewart for their strong play to preserve a shutout.

“We were more focused on improving other aspects of our game,” Tigers assistant coach Chris Tarabochia said. “We were able to get a lot of growth tonight.”

The Tigers will head north again this Friday, taking on Evergreen Lutheran at 2:30 p.m. for a rematch. Napavine defeated Evergreen, 1-0, earlier this season at home.
