Tigers trounce Bruins in five

The Centralia softball team easily dispatched Columbia (White Salmon) on Tuesday, topping the Bruins 13-1 in five innings.

The Tigers (3-3, 1-1 2A EvCo) took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, and they added three more in the second to push the lead to 6-1.

Centralia broke the game open in the fourth, scoring seven to put the game out of reach.

Hollynn Wakefield was incredible both at the dish and in the circle, as she allowed just one hit and one unearned run and struck out nine in four innings pitching while also going 1 for 2 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs.

Peyton Baumel went 1 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs, while Lauren Wasson and Gracie Schofield both went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs batted in. They both also scored three runs.

McKenna Smith pitched a shutout inning in the fifth, and she also went 1 for 2 with a double at the plate.

The Tigers will look to get above .500 for the first time this season when they face Black Hills at home on Wednesday.
