It was easy for much of the night for the Tumwater football team on Friday, as the T-Birds topped 4A Puyallup 56-6.

Tumwater (1-0) led 28-0 after one and 49-6 by halftime, which kept the clock rolling throughout the entire second half.

The T-Birds had their usual success on the ground, led by Payton Davis’ 179 yards and three touchdowns, but they also had a few big plays through the air.

Jaxon Budd needed just three completions to tally 120 yards and three touchdowns, as Jake Dillon (45 yards), Sunny Nguyen (43 yards), and Derek Thompson (32 yards) all came away with long TDs.

Parker Berry added 53 yards and two scores on the ground, while Brett Heryford needed just three carries to log 47 yards.

Jaylin Nixon and Tyler Briscoe combined for 10 carries and 73 yards, and kicker Dylan Stevens went a perfect 8 for 8 on extra points.

The T-Birds will host again next Friday, when they’ll welcome Bainbridge to Tumwater District Stadium.
