Travelers who use U.S. Highway 12 near Oakville will want to plan for more than a month of daytime one-way alternating traffic starting on Tuesday, Sept. 3, while utility crews replace existing overhead lines and excavate new underground lines, according to a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The work schedule will run from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday through Friday, Oct. 11. No work is scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays.

Residents and visitors can expect U.S. Highway 12 to be reduced to one lane approaching the Anderson Road roundabout. One-way alternating traffic will be signaled by flaggers, and occasional 10-minute traffic stops will occur when approaching the work zone.

The Washington State Department of Transportation requests that when citizens are in work zones “they slow down, be kind, pay attention and stay calm.” Posted speeds must be adhered to for the safety of the crew and drivers. Traffic fines double in work zones.
