Rep. Richard DeBolt Sponsors Adna High School Student as House Page

Callen Ryan, an Adna High School student, traveled to Olympia recently to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives. He was sponsored by his 20th District Rep. Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis.

“Callen was a big help to my office this week. It’s always exciting to see students from our district come to Olympia to serve as House pages,” said DeBolt. “By actively participating in the legislative process, they see the importance of being involved in local and state government. Callen has a big future ahead of him. I wish him all the best!”

Callen, a Chehalis resident, is the son of Kevin and Melissa Ryan. When the 15-year-old is not in school, he participates in sports, reads books, and works on cars and trucks. During his time as a page, Callen attended page school every day to understand the operations and actions of the Legislature. His time in Olympia culminated with the presentation of a mock bill to a “committee” of his fellow students.

Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the House Page Program. Students spend a week attending page school, learning the inner workings of state government and assisting legislators on the House floor. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program.
