1A Boys Soccer: Beavers Snap Two-Game Losing Skid

Posted

Salvador Ontiveros and Zack Russell scored two goals each as Tenino took down Hoquiam, 4-1, on the road Monday.

It was a crucial win for the Beavers, who were on a two-game losing skid after winning three straight during one stretch this season.

And it wasn’t an easy rebound Monday as the Beavers were without three starters and a fourth player who also plays big varsity minutes.

“We had to shuffle some things and move some players around,” Tenino coach Kevin Schultz said. “Everyone who stepped in did a good job.”

Russell started the scoring off in the 16th minute to give Tenino a 1-0 lead at the half.

Ontiveros scored in the 62nd minute off an assist from Russell to make it 2-0. Ontiveros scored again four minutes later off a header by an assist from Chris Ramez on a corner kick.

Hoquiam notched a goal in the 78th minute before Russell came back with his second goal of the night from an assist from Paydon Henderson.

Sophomore keeper Alex Reichelderfer recorded six saves on the night.

Schultz praised Terrence Taylor for stepping up at center back, as well as Toby Seuss and Russell in the middle.

We did a good job keeping the ball and moving the ball,” Schultz said.

Tenino improves to 4-4 overall and hosts Raymond-South Bend at 7 p.m. on Wednesday on Senior Night.
