Tenino sent its seniors out on a high note Tuesday, scoring all four of its goals in the first 28 minutes en route to a 4-1 win over Elma in Tenino.

Brieanna Dell opened the scoring with an assist from Molly Craig in the sixth minute, and Grace Vestal added a goal two minutes later.

Dell scored again in the 14th minute, assisted by Ashley Schow, and Kathryn Kollman scored on an assist from Dell in the 28th minute.

Harlee Nelson scored Elma’s goal in the second half.

“We had a really good first half,” Tenino coach Kevin Schultz said. “We had four goals in 28 minutes, so that really speaks to how we started the game.”

Still, he added, his team felt afterwards that it could have done more after building the lead.

“We kind of went into cruise control in the second half, so the girls leave the game thinking they could have played even better,” he said. “They’re hopeful that Thursday we’ll go out and put together a more complete performance for the whole game.”

Seniors Dell, Craig, Kollman, Rene Diello and Iris Campesino — who is out with an injury — were honored in their final regular-season home game.

“The four seniors that we have that played did a really good job,” Schultz said. “All of them contributed and really played a role in the win.”

The Beavers are 8-1 overall and 4-1 in 1A Evergreen League play and tied with Montesano atop the league standings. Tenino plays at Elma on Thursday, while Montesano plays at Hoquiam; if both teams win, they’ll share the league title.

Tenino will open District 4 tournament play on Monday.
