1A Volleyball: Beavers Swept in Season Finale

Posted

Tenino just couldn’t get over the hump in the regular season this year after losing to Elma in straight sets (25-11, 25-7, 25-18) in the regular-season finale at home Thursday on senior night.

“Despite the scores, it was by far the best performance of the year for us,” Tenino coach Wanda Blanksma said. “It was a good way to go out for our seniors.”

Beavers playing for their final time on their home court were Kaylee Reddekop, Bailey Greene, Aurora Loya and Regan Rice.

“All great kids,” Blanksma said. “It was nice to see the team hustle and play with a lot of heart.”

Courtney Backman led the Beavers with 8-for-8 serving, while Jadin Woodward, Austin Johnson and Loyan were praised by Blanksma for their performance in the back row.

But wait, there’s more. Every 1A Evergreen Conference team is advancing to the district playoffs this year, which means the winless Beavers are awarded a first-round matchup against 1A Trico champion Goldendale on Tuesday at a site yet to be determined.
