Mossyrock quarterback Aiden Weist threw for 180 yards and four touchdowns and Mossyrock blasted its way to a 42-6 victory over rival Winlock in 8-man football Friday at home.

“We’re getting better every week,” Mossyrock coach Eric Ollikainen said. “We’re feeling good.”

Junior running back Mateo Mendoza scored the opening touchdown on a 20-yard run in the first quarter. Ryan Bellino followed that up with a 35-yard touchdown reception from Weist to make it 16-0. Weist connected with Gunner Mulligan on a 25-yard TD pass, followed by Weist’s 55-yard TD strike to T.J. Villanueva to close out the first-half scoring. Weist threw his fourth touchdown pass to Mulligan in the third quarter, a 35-yarder, while Sage Greisen closed out the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run.

Mossyrock finished with 226 total yards of scoring. Weist was 4-for-6 passing with 180 yards and four TDs. Villanueva led the Vikings with nine carries for 80 yards and one receiving touchdown.

“We’re focusing on ourselves,” Ollikainen said. “I’m a big process guy and we’ve been focusing on how we practice and changing the culture.

Mossyrock improves to 3-1 on the season and has now won three straight games after falling to Naselle in the season opener, a team that played in the 1B state title game in 2019. Winlock falls to 1-2 on the season and was coming off a big 50-22 win over Northwest Christian (Lacey) last week. The Vikings travel to Wahkiakum on Thursday.
