1B/2B State Volleyball Seeds Announced

Posted

Three teams from The Chronicle’s coverage area earned bids to state, with 1B Mossyrock taking home a district title, and 2B Napavine and Adna finishing second and third, respectively, in the 2B District 4 tournament.

Find out where the state seeding committees placed the three teams and their immediate outlook below.

2B: No. 5 Adna

The Pirates probably got the best deal in the 2B bracket out of all the District 4 teams, avoiding No. 1 Kalama until a potential semifinal date. The Pirates open the tournament against No. 12 Tri-Cities Prep at 9:45 a.m. and if they win, would play the winner of No. 13 Granger and No. 4 Colfax.

2B: No. 8 Napavine

The Tigers will face a very familiar foe in the first round of the state tournament, taking on No. 9 Toutle Lake at 11:45 a.m. in Yakima Thursday, a team they’ve played twice in the past two weeks.

It doesn’t get any easier for Napavine from there. If they manage a win against the Ducks, the Tigers would take on the winner of No. 1 Kalama and No. 16 Forks that same night.

1B: No. 2 Mossyrock

The Vikings will open the 1B state tournament in Yakima as the No. 2 seed for the second straight year, against the winner of Grace Academy and Willapa Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Defending 1B champ Oakesdale was named the No. 1 seed for the second consecutive year, and Mossy’s league rival Naselle is the No. 4 seed.
