Rochester played by far its best team match of the season, 23 strokes better than their previous score, but couldn’t edge Black Hills in a 254-255 defeat on the road in its league finale Wednesday.

Luke Barth and Rowdy Edminster each led the Warriors with a team-low 49, just two strokes off the match medalist. Hyde Parrish shot a 50, while Brady Moen shot a 52 and Xavier Mendez a 55. The Warriors are sending all five of the above golfers to districts, as well as Gabe Stewart.

“Both teams played really well,” Rochester coach Eric Holmkvist said. “It was a good match for both teams today. We were close but they edged us out. Everybody had a pretty good day. These are the scores we’re capable of.”

Black Hill’s Max Johnson was match medalist with a 47, while teammate Brandon Winn shot a 50, Scotty Sneen a 51, Luke Verlangieri a 52 and Luke Fenner a 54.

Rochester closes out the regular season with a non-league matchup against Montesano on Monday at Riverside Golf Course. Districts start Wednesday at Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview.
