2A Boys Golf: Woodland’s Huddleston Wins District 4 Golf Crown

Woodland’s Dane Huddleston was crowned the 2A District 4 golf champion on Thursday, winning the district’s boys tournament by three strokes at Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview.

Huddleston, a sophomore, shot matching 69s on both days of the two-day tournament and was the only golfer to come in below 140. Ridgefield’s Cade Bringhurst finished second (141), with R.A. Long’s Jay Nickerson taking third at 145.

“The course was in fantastic shape,” Rochester coach Erik Holmkvist said. “Especially yesterday, you couldn’t have asked for better weather.”

W.F. West’s Tucker Rosbach was the top local golfer, shooting a 165 to finish 21st. Teammate Camryn Bostwick was 22nd (166), while Brock Bunker shot 170 and Dirk Plakinger finished at 183. 

Centralia’s Jesse Kuykendall was the only other local to quality for the second day of action, shooting a 180.



On Wednesday, Centralia’s Andrew Mitchell shot a 55, Sawyer Terry shot a 56, Wyatt Baumel shot a 61 and Brady Sprague shot a 62. 

For W.F. West on Day 1, Jacob Douglas shot a 51 and Evan Tornow shot a 55.

Hyde Parrish was a bright spot for Rochester on Wednesday, shooting a 50. 

“He really came on strong,” Holmkvsit said. “We were really proud of him. It was a great finish.”

Also playing for the Warriors were Luke Barth (51), Xavier Mendez (53), Gabe Stuard (57), Brady Moen (58) and Rowdy Edminster (60).
