Posted

Rochester defeated Centralia for the second time this season, this time a 2-0 shutout on the Tigers’ senior night.

The Warriors scored in the 10th minute on a goal from Kaylei Clark, assisted by Megan Haury to go up 1-0 early. Haury then knocked in a goal of her own in the 45th minute off an assist  from Staysha Fluetsch to end the scoring at 2-0. Keeper Madison Bates recorded the shutout and Haury was named the Woman of the Match for the Warriors.

“Centralia started out strong and our first goal was kind of against the run of play,” Rochester coach Ken Matthews said. “We played much faster and improved our passing. I liked the pressure we were able to put with our forwards and mids. Good job by our defense.”

Centralia seniors playing in their final home game were Taylor Smith, Rebecca Demaris, Lola Montee and Nicole Leal-Garcia.

“The girls worked hard and gave it their all,” Centralia coach Henry Gallanger said. “No complaints about how hard they worked.”

The Tigers and Warriors both advance to the district playoffs and will play against teams and sites yet to be determined as of Thursday night.
