The Oakville baseball team led by three runs late against Ocosta on Thursday, but the Acorns let the lead slip away and fell 4-3.

Ocosta got on the board with two runs in the fifth and tied it in the sixth before walking off with the win.

Gio Rodas pitched the first five and two-thirds innings, striking out five, and Daniel Rodas recorded three outs in relief. The two combined to allow all four runs, but all four of them were unearned because of Oakville’s four errors in the field.

Koner Kurnett had three hits at the plate, while James Shields and Phillip Kukhar added two hits apiece. Shields and Andres Rhoades collected Oakville’s two RBIs.

The Acorns (5-9) will return home to wrap up their regular season on Friday, when they’ll host Wishkah Valley.

The school will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the baseball and softball fields prior to the games, and the first 200 fans in attendance will get a free hot dog and crackerjacks.
