Adna’s Gates, W.F. West’s Vaughn Shine at Senior All-Star Game

Adna pitcher Levi Gates and W.F. West pitcher Tanner Vaughn both posted impressive pitching performances at the annual Senior All-Star Baseball Game at Lower Columbia College’s Story Field in Longview on Thursday.

Gates, who’s signed to play at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska this fall, threw two scoreless innings while striking out five batters for the Nationals team.

Vaughn, who is signed to play at Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas, also threw two scoreless innings and struck out four batters while helping the Americans to a 4-1 win over the Nationals.

Tumwater’s Camden Oram, an LCC commit, led the Americans offensively, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored. The Nationals were led offensively by Forks’ Carter Windle, who lashed an RBI triple.

Other local kids playing in the game were Rainier catcher Mikey Green; W.F. West outfielder Cade Haller; W.F. West catcher Drew Reynolds; Centralia DH Benito Valencia; Centralia center fielder Noah Aliff; Centralia catcher Cameron Erickson; Toledo pitcher Ryan Boomstrom; and Mossyrock’s Tryn Thompson. 



Napavine shortstop Laythan Demarest was also selected but was unable to play due to competing in the district basketball title game the same night.

Local players who were nominated for the All-State Series set for July 10 and 11 in Yakima are Gates, Reynolds and Vaughn.
