The Adna boys basketball team’s six game win streak came to an end on Saturday, as the Pirates were defeated by Okanogan 56-41.
The Pirates held a slim lead after one and at halftime, but the Bulldogs scored 38 points in the second half to pull away.
“Okanogan is the biggest 2B team I’ve ever seen,” Adna coach Luke Salme said. “We battled and played really hard the entire game. We just struggled on the glass and that’s where they got most of their points.”
Trevin Salme led the Pirates with 14 points, while Jackson Knittle scored 13 and Gavan Muller had seven. Grayson Humphrey added five, and Kannen Kephart tallied two.
The Pirates (6-2) finished their trip east 1-1, defeating Brewster before their loss to the Bulldogs.
“This was a great trip for up,” Salme said. “Two good, tough, and close games.”
Next up for the Pirates is the Adna Holiday Tournament, which tips off Friday. The Pirates will play Wahkiakum at 5:30 on Friday before playing Tumwater on Saturday night.
