A Skagit County Superior Court judge denied a motion Monday to postpone the trial of a Bay View man accused of animal cruelty related to the death of cattle on his property.

The trial of Roger Edward Pederson, a 93-year-old man charged with six counts of first-degree animal cruelty after 70 dead cows were found on his property in January 2018, is scheduled to begin March 13.

According to court records, Judge Brian Stiles denied a motion by Pederson lawyer Emily Beschen to postpone the trial.

The records state Skagit County prosecutor Rosemary Kaholokua objected to postponing the trial. Pederson was first set to go to trial in October 2018, and has had his trial delayed 17 times.
