W.F. West girls track and field secured wins over Black Hills and Aberdeen, while the boys team beat Black Hills but was defeated by Aberdeen in a dual meet at Tumwater Stadium on Wednesday.

The Bearcat girls defeated Black Hills 96-52 and Aberdeen 114-27. The Bearcat boys defeated Black Hills 93-51 and lost to Aberdeen 83-62.

W.F. West girls were led by junior Brenna Witchey, who won the long jump (15-10) and triple jump (34-05).

“She has really been progressing perfectly and making the right adjustments each week,” W.F. West coach Autumn Ledgerwood said. “It really came together nicely for her today.”

Senior Amelia Etue also won two events, taking the 200-meter dash (29.37) and running a leg in the winning 4x100 relay along with Audrey Toynbee, Elizabeth Patana and Hodaya Starr.

The Bearcat girls also swept the top-3 javelin spots, as well as all three relay and all three distance races (800 meter, 1600 meter and 3200 meter).

Senior Kyla McCallum won the jav with a toss of 11-04, while freshman Amanda Bennett was second (105-04) and senior Kambriah Simper was third (97-03).

On the boys side, Seth Hoff was a triple winner, capturing the javelin (163-03), high jump (5-08) and long jump (20-00.75).

“He set season bests in javelin and long jump with some good pop off the board today,” Ledgerwood said.

Elijah Annonen’s PR in the pole vault vaulted him to the top spot with a leap of 11 feet even. The Bearcat boys also swept the top-3 places in the pole vault and javelin.
