Bearcats Best Tigers in Rivalry Golf Match

W.F. West girls golf had six golfers score in double digits and the Bearcats came away with a 71-30 win over rival Centralia in a 2A Evergreen Conference matchup at the Newaukum Valley Golf Course’s left course on Wednesday.

Playing a stableford format, Bearcats’ Natalie Eklund was match medalist, shooting a 48 to lead all golfers with 21 points. Joyce Stafford scored 14 points, Abby Alexander scored 13, Macee Shannon had 10 and Grace Oien finished with 10.

“The team is starting to come together,” W.F. West coach Matt Klovdahl said. “We played well considering the conditions, and I’m looking forward to seeing the team improve.”



Centralia was led by Samantha Johnston’s 17 points, while Zahara Ramirez scored five, Tess McMurry and Elizabeth Orellana each scored four, while Emily Wilkerson and Buzzard each finished with three.

Centralia hosts Black Hills at 3:30 p.m. at Riverside Golf Course. W.F. West hosts Shelton at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at Newaukum Valley Golf Course.
