Putting up four runs in the first inning, the W.F. West baseball team controlled the pace throughout a 7-1 victory over Shelton at home Thursday night.

After the early barrage, starter Logan Moore pitched 5.2 innings, striking out eight and allowing no earned runs, and Riggs Westlund came in relief and allowed just one hit and struck out three in 1.1 innings.

At the plate, Evan Stajduhar starred with two RBI on a single, while Jeron Martin went 2 for 3 with one run batted in.

The Bearcats converted seven hits into seven runs, and held the Highclimbers to just one run on three hits, with none of them earned.

They’ll look to keep it rolling against Aberdeen next Tuesday on the road.
